This book is an outgrowth of development of the chemical engineering curriculum at Lehigh University. The publication in 1960 of "Principles of Unit Operations" by the faculty at Lehigh, led by Alan S. Foust, resulted in the presentation of the main chemical engineering course in the sequence of Staged-based operations, followed by the Rate-based operations, and finally application to Equipment Design. In l972, T. Brian published "Stage Cascades in Chemical Processing", which was covered before the Transport Phenomena course. The present book used the T. Brian-book approach as an 'introductory chemical engineering course" by using the equilibrium-staged operations to introduce the student to Materials and Energy Balances.
He must have been full of energy in his early academic career when this was published! Dense with material and detail.
